New ED Medical Leadership Named at Waco’s Providence Health Center
Emergency Service Partners, a founding partner of US Acute Care Solutions, is pleased to announce the appointment of new medical leadership in the Emergency Department at Providence Health Center in Waco, TX, effective December 1, 2017.
Dr. Brent Treichler has been named the new ED Medical Director at Providence. An accomplished, energetic, and passionate clinician who leads by example, he also has extensive operational, business development, and regulatory experience.
Since January 2016, Dr. Treichler has served as the ED medical director at Metroplex Adventist Hospital in Killeen, TX, where he helped establish the hospital as the only Primary Stroke Center in the area and helped dramatically improve Press Ganey scores. He previously served as Chief Medical Officer of Corning Hospital in New York.
Prior to that, Dr. Treichler spent eight years as the ED medical director and later Chief of Emergency Services at Parkland Health and Hospital Systems in Dallas, overseeing an operation comprising 135,000 ED visits and 60,000 ED urgent care visits annually. He concurrently held an academic appointment as an assistant professor at the adjacent University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
A Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians, Dr. Treichler earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Davis and his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School. He completed his emergency medicine internship and residency at UT Southwestern and later completed his Healthcare Management Executive MBA from UT Dallas/UT Southwestern.
Dr. Daniel Elwell has been named Assistant Medical Director at the Providence ED. He has served in an interim role since June, when former ED Medical Director Dr. Nicholas Steinour assumed the medical director role at Seton Medical Center Austin. We are grateful for Dr. Elwell’s dedication to Providence and thank him for his willingness to serve in this leadership role during the transition.
Dr. Elwell has been an emergency physician at Providence for four years. Prior to that, he served as interim ED medical director at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro, TX, and worked as an attending emergency physician in Corpus Christi. He served as a captain in the US Air Force Reserve Medical Corps for nearly a decade.
A board-certified emergency physician, Dr. Elwell earned his bachelor’s degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas and his medical degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center, Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth. Following an osteopathic internship at E.W. Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, MI, he completed his residency training in emergency medicine at Michigan State University, where he was named chief resident. He is an auxiliary faculty member at Baylor University.
